NIC offers study options for students with diversabilities.  Students will learn topics to develop their personal and professional skills.  The program supports students towards their career and employment goals.

2.  Attend a personal interview with an instructor.

The tuition per credit is $132.48* plus a learner fee of $5.90 for each credit. 

Financial support is available through the Adult Upgrading Grant. This grant pays for your courses and your application fee to NIC.

Frequently asked questions

Courses change each year based on what students want to learn. Instructors use surveys to plan the schedule, with about 10–15 courses at each campus. To see what’s available this year, talk to your Accessible Education and Training instructor.

To register, contact the Accessible Education and Training department. The instructor will meet with you to talk about your goals, strengths and what you want to learn. If it’s a good fit, they’ll help you with registration.

Yes, each course has tuition, but financial help is available. When you register, your instructor can help you apply for an Adult Upgrading Grant (AUG) to cover your course and NIC application fee. Most students get approved.

AUG stands for Adult Upgrading Grant. This program helps adults who have financial need take skills upgrading, education and training courses.

Anyone with a diversability and who wants to be a learner can be a student in our program.

Students need to be independent to come to AET courses. If a student is not able to be independent, then they can bring a support worker to support them be a learner in the class.

We do offer one online course per year. Please contact the AET instructor to learn more about this.

Yes you can. We offer many different certificate programs. The AET instructor can help you with your learning goals.

Many of our students move from the AET program into employment. Below is a list of types of jobs some of our graduates do:

  1. Restaurant: Prep cook, dishwasher, busser, cleaning
  2. Retail: Store assistant, fronting and facing, grocery bagger, shelving product, cleaning
  3. Animal care: SPCA, dog walker
  4. Car dealership: Car detailing
  5. Landscape and Maintenance: outdoor clean-up of buildings, trail crew, grass cutting, leaf blowing
  6. Business: filing, paper shredding 
  7. Paper Delivery: hand deliver papers
  8. Farm work: farm hand
