I grew up as the son of a contractor in beautiful Victoria, BC. I entered the construction field myself in the late 90s as the construction sector was gaining momentum. My background is working in a full mechanical commercial construction environment — including large retail, assisted care living, institutional buildings, offices and multi-story residential projects — where my responsibilities have included natural gas and propane systems, hydronic heating systems, solar themal systems, storm/gray water retention and delivery systems, fire protection, potable water distribution and drain, waste and venting systems.

In 2007, my family and I moved to the Comox Valley. A year later, at the request of my union manager, I taught a course at NIC and have been teaching at the college ever since. Sometimes, you never know what you will like until you try it! Being a trades instructor is a rewarding challenge and I love seeing apprentices mature into successful journeypersons and peers in the field.
