Keynote Speaker profile- Kevin Lamoureux
'Re-imagining Business-as-usual: Walking in a Good Way in Post-Secondary'
Kevin Lamoureux is a faculty member at the University of Winnipeg and a well-known public speaker. He has served as Associate Vice President for the University of Winnipeg, Education Lead for the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, and as Scholar-in-Residence for several school divisions. Lamoureux is an award-winning scholar with an impressive publication and research grant record and has consulted for governments, organizations and institutions across Canada. His most recent book, Ensouling Our Schools, co-authored with Dr. Jennifer Katz, is being used by educators across Canada working to create inclusive spaces for all students. He has been seen on TV, in documentaries, in print, and the media. More than anything, Lamoureux is committed to reconciliation and contributing to an even better Canada for all children to grow up in.

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada offered 94 Calls to Action as a pathway towards Canada achieving its full potential. So many of these Calls to Action are grounded in education and awareness, putting learning institutions on the frontlines of Reconciliation. This session will consider the tremendous opportunity that has been given to post-secondary institutions to engage with Indigenous peoples, knowledge, and talent, with a particular focus on honouring the profound strengths of the academy, as well as the opportunities to be even stronger.
