An article on the Indigenous news site Ha-Shilth-Sa notes that part of the project, a Co-op Community Teaching Kitchen, will facilitate the sharing of traditional Indigenous knowledge like food preservation and local culinary training opportunities. NIC is noted for being active in the kitchen design group and its support of the Biosphere Centre, with the plan of providing training.
The kitchen is being established with the help of a gift from FCL (Federated Co-operatives Limited) and Ucluelet Co-op.
