With so many different job boards available online and at your fingertips, it can be hard to know where to start looking, or even what the best websites are. Don’t worry – we have it covered for you!
#1 – Indeed: www.indeed.ca
Indeed is a job board generated by Google. Employers can post opportunities on Indeed directly, and the job board also searches other existing job posting sites and pulls them into its system. Going to a company’s actual website to view a posting you saw on Indeed can often give you more details about the position.
#2 – CareerCentral: www.nic.bc.ca/careercentral
CareerCentral is NIC’s very own job board specifically for students and alumni. When an employer contacts us in Student Employment Services at NIC, telling us they are have an opportunity, we direct them to post on CareerCentral.
#3 – Your local WorkBC office:
- Comox Valley: The Job Shop thejobshop.ca
- Campbell River and North Island: North Island Employment Foundation Society (NIEFS) niefs.net
- Port Alberni: Alberni Valley Employment Centre: avemployment.ca
#4 – go2HR: www.go2hr.ca
go2HR promotes jobs / careers in tourism and hospitality, hosts the BC tourism job board, and offers training programs for employers and employees within the industry.
#5 – LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com
LinkedIn is mostly known for its networking capabilities, but it also houses a fantastic job board. Use LinkedIn to search for jobs, organizations, and the people who work there.
#6 – Government / BC Public Service:
www.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/careers-myhr/job-seekers/current-job-postings
This job board is for external candidates (people who aren’t working for the government already) and where you can browse jobs in the public service sector.
