Students will feature pieces created during their eight-month certificate program, including earrings, necklaces pendants and bracelets. Select student work will also be for sale at the event. The open house is an exciting time for the students.
“After months of learning lots of different aspects of jewellery design and making, varying from engraving, drawing, casting, metal techniques and so on, it’s almost time to show our newly gained skills,” said Pricilla Sterkenburg, NIC Metal Jewellery Design student.
The Metal Jewellery Design Open House is also an opportunity to tour NIC’s metal jewellery design studio, meet instructors and discover the specialized equipment and techniques available to students.
Visitors can learn more about NIC’s Metal Jewellery Design certificate starting again this fall, as well as individual jewellery workshops and courses this spring and summer.
“It’s been a great experience,” said Sterkenburg. “I feel very lucky to have met very talented instructors and great fellow students.”
The free event runs from 1 to 3 pm on Wednesday, April 11, in Room D209 at NIC’s Campbell River campus.
