The moment of silence encourages everyone to come together, recognize the many people who still experience gender-based violence today and work for change.
In Canada, 50% of all women have experienced physical or sexual violence. While these figures are sobering, it’s important to recognize that in some populations, these figures are disproportionately much higher. Gender-based violence intersects with other forms of violence like colonization, racism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia and many others.
