New Vietnam to NIC pathway empowers designers

VTC Academy CEO Hoang Viet Tan and NIC President & CEO Lisa Domae celebrate the signing of a new partnership agreement between the two institutions at a virtual signing ceremony.

A new partnership between NIC and VTC Academy – a leader in technology and digital content education based in Vietnam – will allow students from that country to continue their digital design and development training at NIC.

Under a new articulation agreement signed by both institutions, graduates of VTC Academy’s Full Stack Web Development and Mobile Application Development programs are eligible to transfer seamlessly into NIC’s Advanced DIGITAL Design + Development programs.

The new agreement strengthens NIC’s commitment to international learners and employers.

“Agreements like this create enormous opportunity for students at NIC and VTC,” said Lisa Domae, NIC’s president and CEO. “Through co-operation, NIC is supporting students and employers as they meet the education and training needs of a booming tech economy. My sincerest appreciation to Mr. Hoang Viet Tan, VTC Academy CEO and everyone at both institutions who put this agreement together.”

Students will learn at NIC’s Comox Valley campus and complete a project component with a Canadian business in their field.

The agreement is NIC Digital Design + Development’s first partnership with a Vietnamese college or university. It lays the groundwork for further opportunities for student exchange, virtual classroom collaborations, and the ability to earn credentials at both locations. There are also opportunities for faculty exchange.

VTC Academy in Ho Chi Minh City has served more than 5,000 students since opening seven years ago. The school offers academic programs in full-stack digital marketing, game development, 3D modelling and more.

NIC’s DIGITAL Design + Development programs include a design stream and a development stream, each focused on teaching students to confidently design and code beautiful and highly functional digital products ranging from websites to mobile apps. An advisory committee made up of industry experts and alumni helps guide curriculum development to ensure NIC DIGITAL grads enter the workforce with -up-to-date skills and knowledge.
