The North Island College (NIC) Board of Governors has elected long-serving members Nancy Arsenault as Chair and Jerad Langille as Vice Chair. Both bring deep experience to their new leadership roles and are well known to the NIC community through their previous contributions.

Arsenault was first appointed to the Board on July 31, 2022, as a representative for the Comox Valley community. She has served as Chair of the Governance and Board Development Committee, as well as held the role of Vice Chair. She succeeds former Board Chair Patricia Trasolini, who retired in July 2025.

Outside of NIC, she is the Managing Partner of Tourism Café Canada, with more than 30 years’ experience across public, private and non-profit sectors. A certified training and development professional, Arsenault has also held multiple academic appointments and advised five tourism ministers. She is recognized as an entrepreneur, researcher and educator.

“My entire career has been dedicated to training and education. Since joining the NIC Board, I have had the opportunity to bring my knowledge, skills and background to college governance,” Arsenault said. “I look forward to continuing that work as Chair, as the College charts its path forward and positions itself for years to come.”

At the same meeting, Board members elected Jerad Langille as Vice Chair. Langille was first appointed to the Board on July 31, 2023. He has also served as Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee.

Additionally, Langille is a former NIC student, completing several accounting courses at the college before earning his CPA designation. Currently, he is a Chartered Professional Accountant at Langille & Company. He is also active in the Comox Valley as a duty coxswain with Royal Marine Search and Rescue and a former RCMP auxiliary constable.

“Returning to NIC as a member of the Board of Governors feels like a homecoming,” said Langille. “Almost 30 years ago, I took my first classes here on my way to becoming a Chartered Professional Accountant, and now I have the chance to give back to the college that shaped my path. NIC has been an important part of my past, my family’s present and my community’s future.”

The NIC Board of Governors oversees the college’s strategic direction and makes policy-level decisions to provide guidance. For more information, see www.nic.bc.ca/board
