“Derek has served the Board of Governors and NIC well since he was elected to the board chair position last year,” said NIC President John Bowman. “His leadership and experience will continue to serve him well and we look forward to working with him in the year ahead.”
The board also re-elected St. Joseph’s General Hospital President and CEO Jane Murphy to the position of vice chair at the September 28 meeting.
“Jane brings a wealth of experience to the board table and a strong voice,” Bowman said. “We are delighted that she will be continuing on as vice-chair for another year.”
Lamb has been very active on the board since 2013, serving as chair of the Finance and Audit Committee, vice chair and then board chair.
“It’s an honour to be re-elected as board chair,” said Lamb. “NIC is a vital link that strengthens the connections between students, employers and communities across the region and I am proud to be able to support the college and my community as chair of NIC’s Board of Governors.”
Lamb is a partner at Chan Nowosad Boates. The Campbell River and Comox Valley accounting firm has hired several NIC students and participated in co-op education and internships. Two of the company’s partners are NIC graduates.
