Montana Alessio is a Registered Nurse, Nurse Educator, and clinical instructor at
North Island College across Theory, Lab and Clinical Courses, where she has been teaching
since September 2023. Her teaching philosophy is grounded in learner-centered, evidence-informed
education that fosters critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and professional growth.
Through completion of the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) Canadian
Certified Nurse Educator (CCNE) Certificate Program in 2025, she has developed expertise
in curriculum design, inclusive teaching practices, and competency-based learning.
Montana strives to create supportive and engaging learning environments that empower
students to build confidence, develop clinical competence, and thrive in their nursing
careers.
Montana's nursing experience encompasses a variety of surgical and acute care settings
across both urban and rural healthcare environments in British Columbia, including
Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU), Operating Room (OR), Endoscopy (ENDO), Day Surgery, and
Medical-Surgical nursing. Having worked as both a staff nurse and travel nurse, she
brings a broad understanding of diverse patient populations, interdisciplinary collaboration,
and the adaptability required in today's healthcare system. Her varied clinical background
enables her to bridge theory and practice, helping students develop sound clinical
judgment, critical thinking skills, and confidence in delivering safe, compassionate,
patient-centered care.
As a Registered Nurse with a Master of Global Surgical Care from the University of
British Columbia, Montana is passionate about advancing equitable healthcare for underserved
populations worldwide. Her work is informed by a deep understanding of global health
systems, humanitarian response, and capacity-building initiatives that strengthen
local healthcare delivery. She is committed to partnering with communities to develop
sustainable solutions that improve access to safe, culturally responsive, and compassionate
healthcare around the world.
