A quick overview
“Transfer” refers to when a college or university recognizes course credits from another institution. It means a student can use those credits to meet the requirements of their new program, saving them time and money.
The most common practice is course-to-course transfer. For example, if you are enroled in NIC’s University Studies program, you can choose from a wide variety of university-level courses and strategically register for courses that will count toward a credential at another institution.
Other NIC programs allow for block transfer — this means that an entire group of courses are recognized for transfer credit. For example, if you complete your two-year Associate of Science Degree, you’re eligible to transfer directly into year three of Royal Roads University’s (RRU) Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Practice. In other words, the NIC course credits you earned for your associate degree count toward the first two years of your RRU bachelor’s degree.
