Short exchanges, unforgettable experiences

Field schools are a great way to learn outside the classroom. They help you connect with the knowledge, land and people in other parts of the world. You’ll travel with an NIC instructor and other students and earn course credits while you learn.

Field schools focus on building relationships and hands-on learning. They usually last two to three weeks, making them a more affordable and shorter option than a full semester abroad. They are an accessible way to explore communities and cultures, engage in place-based education and honour diverse ways of knowing, being and learning

In recent years, our students have participated in field schools in Aotearoa (New Zealand), Spain, Japan, Jordan, Croatia, Costa Rica and Hawai‘i.
