General eligibility

Applications for on-campus housing are open to all students in eligible programs who meet the following criteria as of their move-in date:

  • They are at least 17 years old or have graduated high school
  • They are enrolled in full-time or part-time studies (in-person and/or digital)

Students enrolled in an apprenticeship, practicum, internship, co-op or research project through their program are eligible for housing.

Priority consideration

NIC will offer priority to students who are:

  • Indigenous
  • Former youth in care
  • Enrolled in full-time studies or taking at least nine academic credits

Additional consideration

Minors with accelerated academic progression will be considered on a case-by-case basis in cooperation with their legal guardian.

In some cases, a student may be enrolled in less than nine credits for reasons related to human rights. Students taking fewer than nine credits may be considered full-time if they have approved accommodations from the Department of Accessible Learning Services (DALS).

Please note: ElderCollege, Joy of Lifelong Learning, Youth Academy and First Aid are not eligible for student housing.
