Become a peer connector
Become an International Peer Connector
If you are a returning student, the International Peer Connector (IPC) program is a great way to earn paid work experience while supporting new students at NIC. Getting involved is also a great way to build confidence and share experiences with new friends.
How does it work?
International Peer Connectors (IPCs) are paid student positions with the Office of Global Engagement (OGE). They support the OGE with planning, organizing and running events (such as Orientation) to help new students feel welcome on campus.
As an IPC, you’ll also be assigned your own “bubble” of up to 20 new students and assist them throughout their first term. Common examples of your work could include:
- Helping students access supports on campus
- Providing information about transportation, food, shopping and entertainment
- Guiding students on campus or helping them use learning resources
- Being a friendly face and listening if they need support
You’ll connect with each individual student once per week and gather together as a group for one activity a month.
I’m interested. How do I learn more?
If you’re interested in applying for the program or if you are a first-year international student and want to connect with an IPC, get in touch with us to learn more.
