Aboriginal Scholars is a holistic, culturally relevant program that empowers you to finish your education while building sense of Indigenous community on campus.

How it works

You’ll work with an Indigenous navigator to create an achievement plan based on your needs. The goals can be academic, spiritual, emotional or physical – or a mix of the four. The goal is to gain the support and life skills for your educational journey and beyond.

Your advisor will help you stay on track to meet your goals and access help when necessary. Examples include writing or math tutoring, financial aid, counselling, NIC Elders in Residence or cultural events like smudging or cedar brushing.

Students can apply to complete the program over one term or one academic year. At the end of each term, participants who are successful will earn a $250 scholarship.

Support from RBC

We're grateful to the RBC Foundation for their donation of $120,000 to the Aboriginal Scholars program.
